About Dr K G Sadagopan

Dr K G Sadagopan is one of the founder members of the Tamilnadu branch of the Association and contemporarian to Dr A Devasagayam, Dr V N C Rao, Dr Peters of B & C Group, Dr Raghaviah. The medical officers who were then attached to the industries like Prof G Arjundas, Dr O G C Vaz helped in bringing up the Association.

Dr K G Sadagopan who was then the Medical Officer of EID Parry Limited, Nellikuppam, joined with Dr C K Ramachandar of EID Parry, Ranipet and nurtured the Association which was then called as “Society for the Study of Industrial Medicine”.

In order to encourage the young scientists in the field, he donated a sum of Rs 1,351/- in Tanjore Permanent Fund and utilized the proceeds in awarding Certificate & Medals to the Scientists who deliver this Endowment Lecture. Later on, further contribution from Dr K S Krishnagopal might have been more than Rs 25,000/- in part payments.

First receipt was Dr R V Rajan in 1967.

After the demise of Dr K G Sadagopan, this was renamed as Dr K G Sadagopan Memorial Endowment Lecture and the family members of Dr K G Sadagopan, Dr K S Krishnagopal & Dr K S Srinivasan.

Dr K S Krishnagopal following the foot-steps of his father is very much interested and involved in the activities of our Association. Dr K S Krishnagopal was President of the Branch and Vice President of the National body. The family of Dr K S Krishnagopal, his son Dr Srihari, his daughter Dr Sujatha, his son-in-law Dr Kohanraj are some of the members of Dr Sadagopan family.

Dr Sadagopan was a Philanthropist, humanist and he was very popular among the rural population in and around Nellikuppam on account of his remedical help to the needy persons. He was pious, religious and humanitarian throughout his life.
