Dr. J C KOTHARI MEMORIAL ORATION

Late Dr. J. C. Kothari was a Pioneer in Pulmonary Medicine & Occupational Medicine. He retired from the position of Professor of Pulmonary Medicine from Seth G.S. Medical College, Mumbai University. He was Hon. Physician at RPTB Hospital Sewri, Bombay Hospital and Bhatia Hospital Mumbai.

He was also Medical Director of ESSO and later HPCL. He was a Post Graduate Teacher & Examiner for M.D. (Chest), Diploma in Tuberculosis Diseases (TDD) and Diploma in Industrial Medicine (DIM)

 


He was President of Asian Association of Occupational Health (1986) & hosted AAOH in Mumbai in 1987. He was also National President of IAOH India and Indian Chest Society (ICS). He was a Mentor and Teacher to many successful OH Physicians in India and had immensely contributed to the growth of IAOH.

He was one of the tallest leaders in the country in the discipline of Occupational Health, extremely generous person who has relentlessly supported IAOH through decades. He instituted JCK Endowment Fund in IAOH – Mumbai Branch before he passed away on 11 January 2018.

He gave an immense contribution to Indian Association of Occupational Health. Apart being a President, he organised 2 Congresses of Asian Association of Occupational Health in India.
