Dr. RAMNIK PAREKH ORATION

Dr. Ramnik Parekh, born in Karachi in 1936, qualified in 1962 with MBBS. Later on he had a Diploma in Industrial Health from London and Diploma in Industrial Medicine from Mumbai. He was given Honorary Fellowships by Indian Association of Occupational Health (IAOH) and Indian Medical Association.
He was given Emeritus Membership – third Indian- from International Commission of Occupational Health. He also was given Fellowships by World Organization of Family Doctors – second Indian- and Bangladesh Academy of Family Physicians. He has been offered Lifetime Achievement Awards by General Practitioners Association, National Safety Council of India, IAOH and Federation of Family Physician’s Associations of India. |
He worked as Chief Medical Officer with UNILEVER Group for over 13 years. He started the first ever Executive Checkup Centre on the lines of BUPA in London. He was the Founder Director of Sedgwick Parekh Health Management and then UnitedHealthcare India. He was also Chairman of SPAN Diagnostics Ltd. Currently He is a Director in Alinea Healthcare P. Ltd. He also served as the first Medical Director of IPCA Laboratories Ltd.
After his retirement, at 70 years, he took Diploma in Graphic Design from Mumbai and a Diploma in Film Making from New York Film Academy. In 2013 he acted in a movie titled “Ship of Theseus” which won 8 International and 3 National Awards.
He was the Trustee Secretary of HPPC Trust which provided service for Funerals/Cremations to 18000 bereaved families. He also built a modern Cremation Facility -probably Largest in India and handed it over to Municipal Corporation of Mumbai.
