ABOUT IAOH – TAMIL NADU BRANCH

Occupational and Environmental Medicine is a medical specialty dedicated to the prevention and management of occupational and environmental injuries, illnesses, and disabilities, while promoting the health, safety, well-being, and productivity of the workforce.

The Indian Association of Occupational Health (IAOH), Tamil Nadu Branch, serves as a leading professional forum for physicians and professionals engaged in occupational health, safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, environmental health, and allied disciplines. The branch provides a collaborative platform to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices aimed at protecting workers, workplaces, and the environment.

The Tamil Nadu Branch has a rich legacy dating back to 1952, when it was established as the Madras State Branch of the Society for the Study of Industrial Medicine (SSIM). Over the decades, the branch has evolved in line with the changing industrial and occupational health landscape, responding proactively to emerging challenges and opportunities.

Through regular scientific meetings, continuing medical education programs, conferences, workshops, and collaborative initiatives, the branch actively supports professional development and capacity building. These activities enable members to stay updated with advances, innovations, management systems, and practical solutions that strengthen workplace health, safety, and wellness programs.

Building on its strong foundation and legacy, the IAOH Tamil Nadu Branch remains committed to advancing occupational and environmental health standards, fostering professional excellence, and contributing to healthier, safer, and more sustainable workplaces across Tamil Nadu and beyond.
